Artistic Reconstruction
In the mid 1800's the popular type of photography was
the tintype. Thought to be industructable, this 131 year
old photograph had all but vanished due to deterioration
of the collodion surface.
Thanks to modern technology, a digitally restored
reproduction of this photograph is proudly displayed and
shared with family members while the original stays
safely stored for another 100+ years.
Once photographic technology advanced to printing
on paper, images were considered to be much more
durable.
In most cases we find this to be true. Damage,
however, does occure when photographs are not
properly cared for.

The examples above from the late 1800's of a Cabinet Card and a Dry Plate
Print were exposed to scratching, surface dirt and water damage. Scanning
and restoration techniques provided quality reproduction prints of these
valuable family treasures.
Moments captured on film are often once in a lifetime events. In the 1920's photography was
extremely popular and most everyone had a camera.
We digitally went back in time to re-capture a special moment between a mother and daughter.
Once the primary subjects had been isolated, we constructed the arm, removed the shadow of the
photographer and selected a more suitable background. The digital copy was printed both in the
original sepia tone and with colorization specified by the client.

Thank goodness this historical family heirloom was not thrown away after the misfortunate spill of
india ink .
The original was thought to be lost and had only been kept stored away for the past 90 years
because of its sentimental value.
Our artist resampled an existing image of the patriarch to make it appear more representative of
the photograph to be repaired. The two photos were merged to produce the completed work of art.
We proudly presented the digital print matted in the original 8 x 10 frame.
